On the 21st of November, 2019 FAMFA Oil Limited in collaboration with its Agbami Field Parties (Star Deepwater, Petrobras, Equinor and NAPIMS) donated a science laboratory complex to the students of Government Girls’ Secondary School (GGSS) Biu as well as provided Hybrid Libraries for the pupils of Government Girls’ College (GGC) Maiduguri and Day Women College, Dikuwa all in Borno State. The event held at Bon Hotel Elvis in Wuse, Abuja. The Borno state Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum was represented at the event by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Alhaji Mohammed Abatcha.
The welcome address was delivered by the Principal of GGC, Maiduguri, Hajia Mohammed. She expressed her gratitude to FAMFA Oil Limited and its Agbami Field Parties for their efforts in providing an enabling environment for quality education to be provided to the students in the selected schools, especially for female children.
She mentioned that the community projects will go a long way in boosting the morale of the students and the teachers, serving as a motivation for the schools’ administration. She promised that the beneficiaries would utilize the facilities and keep them in good condition. The hybrid libraries are fully furnished with internet enabled workstations, e-library platforms, library books, a conventional library section with a back-up inverter system. The science laboratory on the other hand comprises of standard physics, chemistry and biology laboratories.
The Executive Governor of Borno State was represented by the Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Education, Alhaji Abatcha who expressed the state government’s sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Agbami Filed Parties for citing the projects in Borno state, as the region has suffered from devastating circumstances following the onslaught of the Boko Haram sect on infrastructures across the state. The principals of the recipient schools gave the vote of thanks.
