Today we are honouring all the amazing women that make up the Famfa Oil Limited board, staff, friends, allies and community. Thank you for making us better! To mark this special day, we bring you into the world of some of our wonder women who have chosen to challenge themselves by encouraging the education of the girl child in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics courses (STEM).
Meet Tolu, a Geoscientist at Famfa Oil Limited.

Who is a Geoscientist?
A Geoscientist studies the physical aspects of the
Earth.
How did you get into this field? Share your journey…
I had always wanted to be a Lawyer but as fate would have it, I drifted to science. After my Pre-degree program, I decided that I wanted to pursue a more tasking and unusual course to study. That was when I opted for Geophysics and to the glory of God have never regretted the decision I took years back.
What are the challenges you have faced getting to where you are?
Over the years, one of the major challenges I’ve faced working in the oil and gas industry is the Limited resources and data to work with. In the past, I have experienced challenges with work-life balance and gender inequality. However, with time and experience, I have learned how to manage my time and manage people.
How has Famfa enabled your success as a female in a male-dominated field?
One of the things I really appreciate about Famfa is the implementation of training and mentorship programs. We have the opportunity to travel and be trained by the world’s best. This in turn has helped improve my overall work performance. I believe continuous learning is vital to stay on top in such a competitive industry
Any words for fellow women who want to toe your line in a male-dominated world (quotes, the mantra you live by etc.)
I have two beautiful quotes I work with “Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn.”- Benjamin Franklin
“The greatest glory in living lies not in falling, but in rising every time we fall.”- Nelson Mandela
