On the 3rd of October 2019, FAMFA Oil Limited, Star Deep Water Petroleum and several parties in the Agbami field donated a fully furnished and equipped two storey building with 12 classrooms to the Bauchi State Government. The intervention included three laboratories, a prep room, a computer room, a fine arts studio, a library, a sickbay, staff rooms, offices and corresponding facilities. The building was handed over to the Governor of Bauchi State, Senator Bala Mohammed at a well attended ceremony in Abuja.
The Agbami Field Parties include: FAMFA Oil Limited, Star Deep Water Petroleum, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Equinor and Petroleo Brasileiro Nigeria Limited. The classroom block is located at General Hassan Usman Katsina Unity College, Bauchi.
Speaking at the event, Governor Mohammed, who was represented by the State Commissioner of Budget and Planning, Dr. Aminu Gamawa, expressed his appreciation to the Agbami Field Parties for the gift, which he said aligns with his government’s policy and goals of providing quality infrastructure to improve the standard of education in Bauchi State.
The principal of the school, Alhaji Musa Garba, was thankful for the intervention. According to him, “The block of classrooms and facilities will have a positive impact on the performance of the students because it will encourage them to acquire the needed knowledge and skills”.
The handover ceremony was also witnessed by FAMFA Oil’s, Facility Engineer, Mr. Yemi Atolagbe; the Bauchi State Commissioner of Education, Dr Aliyu Tilde and the Managing Director of Equinor Mr. Heine Melkevik who was represented by the Government Affairs Manager of Equinor, Mr. Ajibola Akeju to mention a few.
