Drilling
The exploratory well Agbami-1 was drilled in January 1999 and encountered 420 feet of net pay in a variety of zones ranging from 8,200 to 12,400 feet TVD.
The well encountered reservoir sand saturated with oil and an overall column thickness of 400-1,000 feet TVD.
In 2000, the appraisal well, Agbami-2 was drilled by the drillship Glomar Explorer, which drilled through a water depth of 4,800 feet and a total depth of 15,683 feet MD.
The well encountered 604 feet of net pay in a variety of zones.
Field Development and Subsea
For the project to maintain an optimum output, reservoir pressure needs to be maintained. Due to the depth of the field and its location, the most efficient course of action was to use injectors.
Along with the producing wells that are tied to the FPSO via flow lines are gas and water injectors. These injectors are in place to maintain and extend the plateau output before the inevitable decline of the field.
