On the 29th of November, 2019 FAMFA Oil Limited and several Agbami Field parties including Star Deep Water Petroleum, Equinor Nigeria Limited and Petrobras, in partnership with the Lagos Business School (LBS) as well as the Working to Advance STEM Education for African Women (WAAW) foundation, hosted the fourth edition of the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) Symposium at the Honeywell Auditorium of the LBS as part of their efforts to encourage qualitative and balanced education in the country.
The event which was themed “Advancing Innovation & Sustainable Development through STEM” was aimed at equipping students with skills to explore careers and opportunities that will create a viable means of living which will enable prosperity and sustainable communities.
This year’s event featured a 5-day teachers’ professional development training workshop, a 3-day workshop for students, a STEMx Talk by a beneficiary of the Agbami Medical and Engineering Professional Scholarship, a symposium, an exhibition and an awards ceremony.
Fifteen school teams presented projects in the first stage of the innovation challenge which held on the 14th of November 2019. Five schools emerged tops and qualified for the grand finale which held during the STEM symposium.
Through this event, FAMFA Oil Limited and the parties in the Agbami Field were further positioned as partners committed to the development of education in Nigeria.
