The handover and commissioning ceremony of the Mother and Childcare Center donated to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital in Amaku, Awka Anambra State held on Tuesday, August 21, 2021.
The hybrid event which took place virtually and at the physical location in Anambra State had in attendance the Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano and some members of his cabinet.
At the virtual handover ceremony, Bobby Hulett, the Director, Deepwater and PSCs represented by Michelle Obatoyinbo, General Manager, Operations explained that the Mother and Child Referral facility is a centre of excellence in Health care designed to help in ending preventable maternal deaths.
The gesture by the Agbami parties is in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) No. 3 – to improve access to Medicare and a strong focus on improving equity to meet the needs of women, children and disadvantaged populations. The Mother and Childcare Center, is fully equipped and furnished with an alternate power supply, a borehole and a fully equipped ambulance. The facility also comes with equipped Pre and Post Natal Wards, a General Ward, Pediatric wards , Theatre wards, Ultrasound, Pharmacy section, Anesthetics and recovery rooms.
NAPIMS was also in attendance at the virtual event, the GROUP GENERAL MANAGER, NAPIMS, BALA WUNTI, represented by Mr Bappah Babayo, Lead Sustainability and Development, Public Affairs Department, NAPIMS lauded the project. He commended the partnership between the Agbami parties and the government and encouraged future collaborations.
The Chief Medical Director of the teaching hospital, Dr Akabuike, thanked the Agbami parties for the MCC which is very much needed in the state and committed to ensuring that the facility will be put to good use.
The Governor, who commissioned the project physically praised the Agbami parties for a well-delivered project that meets international standards.
